Nonprofit Fiscal Sponsorship

Do you need a fiscal sponsor for your nonprofit organization? A fiscal sponsor is used when your nonprofit does not have its own 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. This is a common, legal procedure to help small nonprofits get started or sometimes for those who are operating a short term program or project and need the covering of another tax exempt organization. Fiscal sponsorship may be needed by some organizations to apply for grants and to accept tax deductible donations.

Considering a 501(c)(3)

for your Church?

As a rule, churches are automatically tax exempt.

Congress has enacted special tax laws that apply to churches, religious organizations and ministers in recognition of their unique status in American society and of their rights guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

Churches and religious organizations are generally exempt from income tax and receive other favorable treatment under the tax law; however, many people are often misinformed about what churches can and cannot do if  they receive 501(c)(3) status.
